Steaks, Moonshine, and BBQ
1957
Toby Sullivan was the new manager of the Bell Livestock Market. Sullivan stated that a Hog Sale was held each Tuesday.
Trenton Rotary Club held a charcoal broiled steak supper which was enjoyed by more than 150 people. During the event Herbie Brown received a youth award for showing the grand champion steer at the Suwannee River Fair in Fannin Springs.
1967
In May of that year, Rev. Hugh Walters of First Baptist Church of Trenton held a special prayer meeting on a Thursday night to pray for rain. Everyone in the area was invited to come to the church and pray for rain to end the drought.
Sheriff Charlie Parrish reported that a 30 gallon moonshine still had been discovered on Tyler Road about 3 miles northeast of Trenton. Tommy Deen of the State Beverage Department said the still was known as a “Ground hog still pot” and used yeast, sugar, bran and water to make about 30 gallons of moonshine a week.
2000
In January Bell Town Council members Rick Carnley, Gary Blankenship, Libbie Estes, and Iris Roberts were sworn into office.
Harold Mizell a Trenton native presented the Thomas Bryant Family with the Chamber of Commerce Citizens of the Year Award.
