100 years and more!

1952

Trenton High School cheerleaders were Betty Crisman, Lucy Deen, Imogene Martin, Petty Deen, Nancy “Nitsie” Crisman, and Clarice Parrish. The mascot was Betty Raborn.

 

1960

Billy Miller a graduate of Trenton High School set the curve in Math at the University of Florida.

 

Residents of Gilchrist County were given a free pass to Dog Land in Fannin Springs. The brand new attraction displayed 120 breeds of dogs on their 21 acre site on U.S. 19. Regular adult admission was 85 cents and child admission  was 35 cents. Dog Land brought a Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant to Fannin Springs, this was one of the first chain restaurant to come to the Tri-County area.

 

1979

University of Florida head football coach Charlie Pell spoke at the Bell High School Athletic Banquet. Rodney Smith and Kevin Rolling received the Silver Helmet award presented by School Board Member Elvin Mathews. Smith was All-Area Offensive Player First Team and Rolling was All-Area Second Team Running Back.

 

Mrs. Synthie Philman of Bell caught a 23 inch, 4 pound trout while fishing with her son and daughter, Tommy Philman and Gwen Carmichael in Steinhatchee.

 

The Jiffy Food Store in Bell held their Grand Opening and the Liz Lang Shop in Trenton was having a half price sale on Jeans.

Louis Overstreet and Bobby Kincaid opened OK Sawmill off U.S. 129 near the Jail in Trenton. Rick Emmons worked for them and they cut both pine and cypress at their mill.
