A glimpse to the past
1936
Capt. Jack Johnson received one of the highest honors that has ever been received by an athlete at Trenton High School. The coaches and official of the Suwannee Conference voted Johnson to the First Team in the position of Center.. Red Thomas of Bell High School won the first place trophy from the Suwannee Conference in the foul shooting contest. The county was very proud of those two students and their basketball skills.
1962
The Fair Store in Trenton held a July 4thSummer Sale, Mens and Boys swim trunks were $1.99, Ladies cotton half slips were $1.00 and full size hobnail bedspreads were $2.79.
1996
Bell Supermarket was selling ground chuck for $1.49 a pound, stew beef was 1..89 a pound and T-bone steak was 3.99 a pound.
The Gilchrist County Education Foundation Walk-A-Thon raised $6,000 for teacher grants.
Bell’s David Lavon Philman became the 41st Commanding Officer of Strike Fighter Squadron 151 in California.
